About Hill Country Two Step

At Hill Country Two Step, dancing is a passion. All of our instructors have a special place in their hearts for roots music, particularly country music. They teach real-world Texas Two-Step, the name given to dances that arrived in Texas from Germany, Czechoslovakia, and other places, creating the unique dancing state we love today.

With residencies at the iconic Little Longhorn Saloon and Sagebrush and being tagged to teach at corporate, wedding, and music festivals, tourists and locals alike have come to view our lessons as the best in Austin and the Texas Hill Country. Our philosophy is simple: the focus should be on the students, Texas history, and dance, not on the instructors.

With that said, our instructors come from varied backgrounds that have instilled a love and passion for dancing. Our founder comes from a dancing family on the social side. His mother introduced him to partner dancing when he was four, and he was fortunate enough to learn the history of and witness a dance of an original Foxtrot by one of his great uncles. He has never lost sight of the importance of what he witnessed and learned. It influenced his adult ballroom dance studies and opened the door to learning social dancing outside of the ballroom. He feels very fortunate to have advanced his social dancing education with some of the greatest dancers alive today.

His childhood experiences also led him to investigate the roots of our music and dances. This learning developed into a love he shares with all of Hill Country Two Step's instructors for roots music and Texas Two Step.

It's an honor for us to be able to spread our passion for dance and country music, helping people to learn and have fun two-stepping!
